About Mermaid Yoga

Mermaid Yoga was created by fusing my passion for adventure and water with my deep love and reverence for the yoga practice.  We want our Standup paddle board (SUP) yoga students to have fun and build self-confidence as they take their yoga practice to the water.  We hope students walk away feeling empowered and maybe even inspired to pursue SUP or SUP yoga on their own.

Our Offerings

Mermaid Yoga offers group SUP Yoga classes, Private Yoga, SUP Basics classes, and special group SUP Adventures.

Included in SUP Yoga Classes:

  • Premium Boga Yoga paddleboard  and paddle rental, US Coast Guard approved PFD, and a dry bag for class
  • Instruction on paddle/board anatomy and paddling basics
  • Paddling practice
  • Fundamentals of taking yoga from the mat to the water
  • Yoga class on the water
  • Pictures during class posted to Mermaid Yoga FB page

SUP Yoga Class (Group)

$50 per person
  • Mermaid Yoga offers group SUP Yoga classes in locations around Whatcom, Skagit, and Island counties.
  • Classes last approximately 90 mins. 

Standup Paddleboarding Basics (Group)

Learn the SUP Basics
$50 per person

1.75 hr class where we will take you from beginner paddler to being comfortable on the board standing up. 

  • Includes: 
  • How to read the conditions and paddle safely. 
  • Paddle technique
  • Equipment overview
  • Professional feedback

Private Classes

Yoga or SUP Yoga

  • Mermaid Yoga offers Private SUP and on land Yoga classes perfect for wedding parties, families, birthdays, team building, and corporate events. 
  • You pick the location (within 25 miles of Burlington) and we take care of the rest. 
  • 2 hour session with SUP instruction, paddle practice, SUP yoga and refreshments
  • Have a destination in mind that is > 25 miles from Burlington or requires a hike to access, contact us to talk about pricing.

SUP Locations

SUP Yoga Clear Lake

Clear Lake is a wonderful lake for SUP yoga, the lake itself is small enough to paddle around in about an hour and the water is usually calm.  The views of the surroundings are beautiful and the lake warms up nicely in the summer.

SUP Yoga Lake Samish

A new addition to our rotation in 2021, Lake Whatcom at Sudden Valley is a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. It offers a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle to work on our practice. 

SUP Yoga Bowman's Bay

Bowman’s Bay is located right around the corner from Deception Pass bridge, a must-see feature in the Pacific Northwest. The views are stunning, the water is generally glassy and the water is surprisingly warm in the area we anchor for the yoga practice.

Even on a breezy Clear Lake evening this class was a blast, paddling out and back with the group was sweet too.  Katie’s instruction is fun and helps you explore your connection with the board and the water.  On a warm day, wear your swimsuit and really push yourself.  Great for a beginner but once you go your first time you’ll be jonesing to get out there again.
